Though rare, if you've had a power cut in your home, there are several possible reasons. Generally, the cause will be unrelated to your specific property and be something the electricity supplier will fix.
If your neighbours seem to still have power, the issue may be isolated to you. Check the electrical supply board (aka fuse box) which is generally located in the hallway or in a hallway closet, and make sure that all the switches are up. If any are down, try pushing them back up again. If you plugged in or switched on an electrical appliance just before the power stopped working, unplug it. It may be defective, causing a short circuit and should be repaired or returned.
